  • The lubrication, rust prevention, cooling, and cleaning effect of the engine oil will gradually degrade during its use. Have the engine oil and filter changed by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer according to the Oil Life Management System instructions or the Maintenance Schedule at the beginning of this chapter.

  • The lubrication, rust prevention, cooling, and cleaning effect of the engine oil will gradually degrade during its use. Have the engine oil and filter changed by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer according to the Oil Life Management System instructions or the Maintenance Schedule in chapter 9 of the complete Owner’s Manual.

  • To keep the engine in optimal condition, use the recommended engine oil and filter. If the recommended engine oil and filter are not used, replace them according to the Maintenance Schedule Under Severe Usage Conditions.

  • The purpose of the maintenance schedule for engine oil replacement is to prevent oil deterioration and it is irrelevant to oil consumption. Check and refill engine oil regularly.

If the oil pressure is low, due to insufficient engine oil, the Engine Oil Pressure (H) warning light illuminates. The enhanced engine protection system that limits the engine’s power, is activated and the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (H) illuminates. After sufficient engine oil is added, the Engine Oil Pressure warning light turns off and the engine power is no longer limited.

However, for smartstream 2.5 GDI, when the engine oil pressure is restored, the warning light and the enhanced engine protection system turns off after the engine is restarted.

Never add any additives to the engine oil. Engine oil additives can change its properties and may cause engine failure.

Allow the engine to cool before replacing the oil.
