Brake Disc Cleaning (BDC)

Use the Brake Disc Cleaning (BDC) function if you hear noise when applying the brake pedal while driving or if rust has formed on the brake disc.

This function helps reduce brake noise and remove rust from the brake disc.

While BDC is operating, regenerative braking is limited, which may temporarily reduce energy efficiency.

To operate BDC:

Press and hold the AUTO HOLD button for over 3 seconds.

  • BDC starts operating when the message 'Brake Disc Cleaning' appears on the cluster display.

  • While driving, regenerative braking is limited during about 10 brake applications to help reduce brake noise and rust.

    • The number of brake applications may vary depending on driving conditions.

To turn off BDC:

  • The function turns off automatically when the operation is complete.

  • The function can also be turned off before completion by:

    • Turning off the vehicle

    • Pressing and holding the AUTO HOLD button for more than 3 seconds
